All week long I’ve been getting calls from MDB about what an incredible time he’s been having in New York. Of course, the highlight has been the the Hurricane Sandy benefit hosted by Rockers in Recovery.
The historic event took place at the Cutting Room in New York City on Friday, January 25th, 2013 with performances by the Rockers In Recovery All Star Band, including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominee Ricky Byrd (Joan Jett and the Blackhearts), Richie Supa (Aerosmith and Richie Sambora), Kasim Sulton (Todd Rundgren), Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge), Liberty Devitto (Billy Joel) and Christine Ohlman (Saturday Night Live Band).
The great Ian Hunter rocked the crowd as well, along with Gary U.S. Bonds and many, many others. Michael brought the house down as usual, belting out “Bang a Gong” with the drop-dead gorgeous Reagan Richards (dressed in full Carnaby Street regalia, no less) on backup. You’ve gotta check out the pics — a full gallery capturing the spirit of the night is available here, with incredible photographs by Dina Regine among others.
Many thanks to Ricky Byrd and his wife Carol for their inspiration and organization of this mammoth event, which raised an astounding $16,000 to help the victims of the bitch known as Hurricane Sandy. The money raised at the concert was split between three non-profits, which still need your support. Donations can be made directly to The Graybeards, West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department, and the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department.

In fact, Michael will be bringing his much-welcomed heat back to NYC in just a couple of weeks… stay tuned for more adventures!
